Katia & John

We are getting married

And we would love to have you there

Our Story

We met in Mexico in 2019 while traveling solo and staying at the same hostel in Mexico City. One night, during a hostel trip to a lucha libre match, John was impressed by Katia’s unexpected beer stamina.

After a few days exploring together, we returned to our lives — Katia to Peru and John to Germany — thinking that might be the end of it. It wasn’t.

What followed were years of messages, calls, flights, and adventures across several countries. Six years later, after many trips, meeting each other’s families, and finally moving in together, John asked Katia to marry him. She said yes.

Dress code

Garden Formal

Elegant but relaxed is the vibe: Suits (ties optional), linen, breathable fabrics, flowy dresses, and tailored sets all work beautifully. The ceremony and reception will be outdoors on grass, so block heels, wedges, or stylish flats are a great idea. It’s the start of summer, so expect a warm afternoon and a cooler evening — light fabrics, a layer for later, and sunglasses are recommended. Most importantly: dress to dance. And one gentle note — please avoid white, ivory, cream, or anything too close to white.

Traveling to Perú

Tips those getting to Perú for the first time

Flying there

Most international flights arrive at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima. From Lima, Huaral is about 90 minutes by car. We recommend arriving a few days early to adjust to the altitude and explore!

Must-visit places

Here our favorites: Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Rainbow Mountain, Lima’s historic center, Paracas & Huacachina oasis, the Amazony in Iquitos, Tambopata reserve amaand the beautiful coastal towns.

Best time to visit

December is summer in Peru with warm, pleasant weather. Perfect for exploring ancient ruins and enjoying the coast. Pack light layers and comfortable walking shoes.

Food to try

Don’t miss ceviche, lomo saltado, anticuchos, causa limeña, and pisco sour. Peru has incredible culinary diversity – from coastal seafood, exotic jungle food (and drinks), to Andean specialties!
